Invite or message a whole pipeline column

From a pipeline board you can send a connection request, or the same message, to every contact of a column in one action. Swimlane queues the sends, spaces them out at random and never goes past your daily limits.

Before you start

  • Your LinkedIn account must be connected.
  • Check your daily ceilings in Settings → Import & Automation Limits (Daily Invitations Sent, Daily Messages Sent, Daily Conversations) and your Virtual Office Hours: nothing is sent outside them.

Send a connection request to a column

  1. Open Pipelines and pick the pipeline.
  2. Click … in the header of the column.
  3. Choose Send connection request. The option is greyed out on an empty column.
  4. If the column holds more contacts than invitations left for today, a Daily invitation limit warning tells you how many will be sent. Confirm to continue.

A message confirms how many connection requests were queued.

Send a message to a column

  1. Click … in the column header and choose Send message.
  2. The dialog shows the recipients' avatars and count. Write your message.
  3. Click Send to n. If the column holds more contacts than messages left for today, a Daily message limit warning tells you how many will be sent. Confirm to continue.

Each contact receives the message in their own private conversation. It is not a group message.

You can personalise the text with these variables, replaced for each recipient at the moment the message goes out: {firstName}, {lastName}, {fullName}, {company}, {title}, {headline}, {location}. Any other placeholder is sent exactly as typed, braces included.

How the sends run

  • Every invitation or message becomes a task in the Queue panel at the bottom of the navigation, grouped in a single row for the batch.
  • Sends are spaced at random: 5 seconds to 6 minutes between two messages, 5 seconds to 10 minutes between two invitations. Never at a fixed interval.
  • Outside your Virtual Office Hours, tasks wait and resume when your office hours start again.
  • Connection requests are sent without a personal note.

Limits and what gets skipped

  • Daily Invitations Sent defaults to 20 a day and Daily Messages Sent to 150 a day. Neither can go above 200.
  • The batch is capped when you click: only as many contacts as you have invitations or messages left today are queued. The others are not kept for tomorrow. Run the action again on another day.
  • If a daily limit is already full when a task's turn comes (for example because a campaign used it up), the task shows Waiting for daily limit and goes out after the limit resets.
  • A message also counts towards your Daily Conversations ceiling, if you set one, the first time you write to a given person on a given day. When that ceiling is reached, the remaining messages wait in the Queue until it resets.
  • Invitations skip contacts you are already connected with, contacts you have already invited and contacts without a LinkedIn profile.
  • Messages skip contacts LinkedIn won't let you message, typically people you aren't connected with.

Good to know

  • The bulk message doesn't check whether someone already received it. Before running it again on the same column, move the contacts who got it to the next stage.
  • Already-invited contacts still take a place in the capped batch before being skipped. Move invited contacts out of the column so the batch only counts new people.
  • Send connection request is also available for any selection in a list or an Inbox view (Bulk Actions → Send connection request). Sending a message to many people at once is only possible from a pipeline column.
  • To choose which stage to run each action on, see Best practices: design pipeline stages for LinkedIn sales.
