Collect your profile visitors every day

People who look at your LinkedIn profile are already curious about you. Swimlane collects them in the background and turns them into contacts, once for a date range or automatically several times a day.

How collection works

While your LinkedIn account is connected and someone in your workspace has used Swimlane in the last 14 days, Swimlane reads LinkedIn's "who viewed your profile" page at random intervals of 2 to 8 hours, during your virtual office hours. The visitors it finds are kept aside: they don't become contacts until you import them. This history is what unlocks the longer date ranges of the one-time import.

Import visitors once, for a date range

  1. Open Lists and click New Import.
  2. In the Import tab, choose Profile Visitors.
  3. Under Select date range, pick Last 24 hours, Last 3 days, Last 7 days, Last 14 days, Last month, Last 3 months, Last 6 months or Last year.
  4. Click Start Import.

A range is greyed out when Swimlane hasn't collected visitors that far back yet; hover it for the explanation. Last 24 hours is always available because it refreshes your visitors from LinkedIn before importing. The list is named after the period, for example "Profile visitors 14 Sep 2026".

Import new visitors automatically

  1. Open Lists → New Import and the Recurring Imports tab.
  2. Choose Auto Profile Visitors and click Start Recurring Import.

Swimlane creates a list called "Profile Visitors". Every 2 to 3 hours, at a random interval and only during office hours, it refreshes your visitors and imports everyone who viewed your profile in the past 7 days. People already in the list aren't added twice, so the list only grows with new visitors. This is the option to use if you want visitors collected every day without thinking about it.

Good to know

  • Each imported visitor gets a profile visit on their record, dated from the visit. This is what the Viewed profile condition of a campaign checks. Visitors that were only collected in the background, never imported, don't count. If a sequence branches on Viewed profile, turn on Auto Profile Visitors.
  • A visitor who is a 1st-degree connection is marked as connected and can be messaged straight away.
  • When many new visitors arrive at once, some may only appear on a later run: Swimlane identifies a limited number of new profiles per run to stay gentle with LinkedIn.
  • New contacts count towards Daily imports. When the allowance is used up, the list shows Paused (limit) and the import tries again an hour later.
  • There's no review screen: every visitor goes into the list. Use the ICP floor of a campaign to keep only good fits (see How ICP fit works).

Why the list can be empty: private mode

Swimlane only sees what LinkedIn shows you on your own "who viewed your profile" page.

  • Members who browse LinkedIn in private mode appear there without a name or profile link. Swimlane can't identify them, so they are skipped.
  • LinkedIn applies the same rule to you. On a free LinkedIn account, if your own profile viewing setting is on private mode, LinkedIn stops showing you who viewed your profile. The page Swimlane reads is then empty, and so are your imports. Switch that LinkedIn setting back to showing your name and headline.

Troubleshooting

  • Longer ranges stay greyed out. Collection hasn't gone back that far yet. Use Last 24 hours, or turn on Auto Profile Visitors.
  • The list stays Scheduled. Your virtual office hours are closed right now (Settings → Virtual Office Hours).
  • "LinkedIn session expired. Please reconnect your account." Reconnect LinkedIn (see Reconnect LinkedIn when the session expires).
