Import limits, office hours and list statuses

Why is an import still Scheduled, Paused (limit) or empty? This article explains the counters, the timing rules and every status you can see on the Lists page.

Where to see your counters

  • On Lists, the bar above the table shows Daily imports (used / allowed), LinkedIn Profile Syncs: (used / allowed) and Total lists. When a limit is full, Limit reset in: shows a countdown.
  • Settings → Usage shows the same counters as rings, including Daily Imported Contacts and Daily Profile Scrapes.

The two limits that affect sourcing

  • Daily imports counts new contacts created by LinkedIn imports: imported search results, commenters, visitors, suggestions and new invitation senders. The plan allows up to 2,500 a day. Contacts that already existed don't count, and neither do CSV imports.
  • LinkedIn Profile Syncs counts LinkedIn profiles fetched: one per contact with Enrich with LinkedIn, and one when Competitor Engagement reads the competitor's profile. The plan allows up to 80 a day.

To be more cautious, open Settings → Import & Automation Limits, lower Daily LinkedIn Imports or Daily Profile Scrapes, and click Save Changes. Values above the plan have no effect. Safe Mode puts every limit back to its recommended value, which is 200 for daily imports; raising a limit above its recommended value turns Safe Mode off.

Virtual office hours

Everything started from New Import, one-off or recurring, plus the background collection of your profile visitors, only works on LinkedIn during your virtual office hours (Settings → Virtual Office Hours). Outside them, imports wait for the next opening. The dashboard searches (People Search, Thematic Posts, Lead Magnet Hunters) and CSV Import aren't affected.

List statuses

  • Scheduled: the import is queued and starts during your virtual office hours.
  • Importing: the import has started. If office hours close in the meantime, it waits and resumes when they open.
  • Done: the import is finished.
  • Recurring: an active recurring import feeds this list.
  • Paused (limit): your daily import allowance was used up when the import tried to start. It tries again an hour later, with nothing to do on your side.
  • Error: the import failed after several attempts. Run a one-off import again. A recurring import retries by itself 15 minutes later.

The Queue panel shows each import as a task, with its own status.

Troubleshooting

  • Stuck on Scheduled. Check that your virtual office hours are open today and now.
  • Paused (limit) every day. You may have set a low Daily LinkedIn Imports value. Raise it in Settings → Import & Automation Limits, or spread your imports over the week.
  • "Daily import limit reached." when importing search results: your allowance is used up. Wait for the reset shown next to Limit reset in:.
  • "LinkedIn session expired. Please reconnect your account." Reconnect LinkedIn (see Reconnect LinkedIn when the session expires). On Competitor Engagement, this message also appears when the URL isn't a profile link.
  • "Failed to import contacts. Please try again." on Competitor Engagement: your LinkedIn Profile Syncs may be full for today.
  • Done, but the list is empty. The post had no comments, the topic was too narrow, or your visitors browse in private mode (see Collect your profile visitors every day).
