How Swimlane keeps your LinkedIn account safe

LinkedIn is wary of activity that looks automated, such as bursts of actions, a perfectly regular rhythm, activity in the middle of the night or a sudden change of location. Swimlane is built to keep your automated activity close to the way a person works. This article explains each protection, what you control, and what no tool can promise.

Your LinkedIn activity happens at human hours

With virtual office hours set, campaign actions and imports only run inside your daily window and in your timezone. Anything scheduled outside it waits and goes out when your office opens. See Set your virtual office hours.

Actions never fire in a burst

  • Messages and connection requests don't go out at a fixed interval. Before each one, Swimlane waits a random pause after the previous one: between 5 seconds and 6 minutes for a message, between 5 seconds and 10 minutes for an invitation. Profile refreshes are spaced by 5 to 30 seconds.
  • These paused actions never run in parallel: one waits while another is still in progress.
  • Campaign contacts don't all move at once either. Steps have delays in days, and every contact advances through its own sequence.

Daily ceilings, checked before acting

  • Every invitation, message, profile refresh and import is checked against your daily limits before Swimlane calls LinkedIn. If the ceiling is reached, the action is held back, never sent above the limit.
  • Campaign actions held back this way wait and go out after the daily reset. Nothing is lost.
  • Defaults are 20 invitations and 150 messages a day. You can lower them, or raise them up to 200. See Daily limits and Safe Mode.

Invitations are only sent when they make sense

  • A campaign only invites contacts Swimlane knows are not connected to you. Someone already connected, or whose connection degree is unknown, isn't invited.
  • A contact who already has an invitation from you isn't invited again.
  • A message planned for the Accepted branch never reaches someone who was already connected before the invitation.

Messages are checked one last time

Just before a campaign message goes out, Swimlane re-checks the conditions that led to it. If the contact replied or the situation changed, the message isn't sent.

A connection that stays in your region

Swimlane reaches LinkedIn through a residential internet connection located in your country and region, and keeps the same address for your account over a working session instead of changing it at every request. LinkedIn sees activity coming from where you are.

Archiving stops everything for a person

Archive a contact and every campaign stops acting on them, including an action already waiting in the queue. Unarchive them and their sequence resumes where it stopped.

What stays in your hands

  • Your limits. Swimlane applies the values you save. There is no automatic ramp-up: a new account needs lower values that you raise yourself over time (see Best practices: safe volumes and warming up a new LinkedIn account).
  • Likes and pokes. These campaign steps aren't counted in any daily limit and aren't spaced by a random pause. Use them sparingly.
  • Your own sends. Messages you send from the inbox aren't spaced out, but they do count against your daily message limit.
  • Your targeting and your words. Invitations sent to people who don't know you, with generic notes, get ignored or refused. A low acceptance rate is a signal to slow down and target better.
  • LinkedIn's weekly invitation cap. LinkedIn limits invitations per week without publishing the exact number. Your daily limit doesn't replace it.

What no tool can promise

LinkedIn's rules apply to your account whatever tool you use, and LinkedIn can restrict any account. Swimlane reduces the signals that look automated. Moderate volumes, relevant targeting and genuine conversations do the rest.
