Daily limits and Safe Mode

Daily limits cap how much Swimlane does on LinkedIn for you each day. When a limit is reached, Swimlane holds the action back instead of exceeding it. Here's how to set them and what each one really covers.

Set your limits

  1. Click Settings at the bottom of the left navigation, then Import & Automation Limits.
  2. Safe Mode is on by default. Turning it on resets every slider to its recommended value.
  3. Drag the slider of a card to change its value. If you go above the recommended value, Safe Mode turns off and a warning tells you so.
  4. Click Save Changes.

Your limits are personal: each teammate sets their own, for their own LinkedIn account.

The limits Swimlane applies

  • Daily Invitations Sent: every connection request, from campaigns or sent by hand. 20 per day by default, adjustable from 0 to 200.
  • Daily Messages Sent: every message, including the replies you write yourself in the inbox. 150 per day by default, adjustable from 0 to 200.
  • Daily Conversations: how many different people you can message in a day. Safe Mode sets it to 20, up to 100. It only applies once you've saved this page; before that, there's no ceiling on it.
  • Daily Profile Scrapes: profile refreshes, such as Enrich with LinkedIn and the checks Swimlane runs while an invitation waits for acceptance. The recommended value is 80, which is also the most your plan allows: a higher slider value still means 80.
  • Daily LinkedIn Imports: contacts imported from LinkedIn per day. Safe Mode sets it to 200. Until you save this page, your plan's own ceiling of 2,500 a day applies.

The page also shows Messages Sent per Day (open profiles), Daily Profile Visits, Daily Follows and Daily Likes. These values are saved with your settings, but no Swimlane action is counted against them today. In particular, the Like last post and Poke campaign steps aren't counted in any limit.

Check your usage

Open Settings → Usage to see today's consumption as rings: Daily Profile Scrapes, Daily Invitations Sent, Daily Messages Sent, Daily Imported Contacts, and Daily Conversations once that limit is set. Counters reset every day at midnight, local time.

What happens when a limit is reached

  • Campaign invitations and messages wait. They're retried about every 15 minutes and go out once the counter resets. On the campaign card they count as Deferred, and in the Queue panel they show as Waiting for daily limit.
  • Invitations and messages you send by hand are refused until the reset.
  • Imports and profile refreshes can't run again until the reset.
  • Nothing is lost and nothing is sent above the ceiling.

Choosing your values

  • Start with Safe Mode. The recommended values are a prudent base for an established account.
  • Lower before you raise. A new or long-inactive LinkedIn account deserves lower values for its first weeks (see Best practices: safe volumes and warming up a new LinkedIn account).
  • Keep room for your own replies. Your inbox replies use the same Daily Messages Sent allowance as your campaigns.
  • Remember LinkedIn's own caps. LinkedIn also limits invitations per week and doesn't publish the exact number. Your daily setting doesn't protect you from that weekly cap.
  • Watch the waiting invitations. Each invitation waiting for acceptance uses profile refreshes. With many invitations out, Daily Profile Scrapes can fill up, and acceptances are then detected later.
