Understand the AI contact analysis

For each contact you interact with, Swimlane reads your conversation and your activity together and sums up where the relationship stands: what happened, what to do next, when to follow up and where the contact belongs in your pipeline. This article explains what each part means and when the analysis is updated.

Where to find it

Open a contact from the inbox or any list. In the right-hand panel, the Info tab has a Swimlane Analysis section. On a phone, open the Info tab of the contact.

What the analysis shows

  • Summary: one to three sentences on how the relationship has gone so far and how strong it is.
  • Recommended Next Step: one concrete action, such as a message to send or a question to ask. Under it:
    • Get a reminder creates a reminder on the follow-up date the AI suggests, named after the next step. One click, no form.
    • You will receive a reminder replaces the button when you already have a reminder for this contact on that date.
  • Confidence Score: a percentage showing how the AI reads the quality of the engagement and the business potential of this relationship. Green means strong, amber medium, red weak. It isn't the contact's ICP fit level and you can't sort your inbox by it.
  • Suggested pipeline: a pipeline and a stage, shown as Pipeline → Stage, where the contact seems to belong. Click Move to place the contact there, or read Already here if they already are.

Under the analysis, the ICP badges show how well the contact fits each of your campaign audiences. They are calculated separately.

What the AI reads

  • the contact's name, headline, company and position
  • your connection degree, and when you last contacted and interacted with them
  • your recent activity with the contact: profile visits, connection, clicks on your links, days with a conversation, likes and comments
  • the most recent messages of your conversation
  • the stages of the pipelines you can use: your own and your team's
  • your context from Settings → Personalization

The analysis is written in your Swimlane language. It covers your relationship with the contact: a teammate who opens the same contact sees the analysis of their own relationship.

When it runs

  • The first time you open a contact that has no analysis yet, it starts automatically. Analyzing... shows while it works.
  • When something new happens (a message, a profile visit, a click, a new connection), Swimlane refreshes it in the background, but only if the current analysis is more than 7 days old. That way an active conversation doesn't trigger a new analysis every few minutes.
  • Whenever you want: click the refresh icon next to the Swimlane Analysis title to run it again right away.

When it isn't available

The AI needs enough to work with: more than 2 interactions or more than 2 messages with the contact. Until then, the section shows Swimlane analysis is not yet available for this contact. It will appear once you have exchanged a few messages or interactions.

How the stage suggestion works

  • The AI first judges the real state of the relationship: no reply or small talk means an early stage, sustained mutual interest a middle stage, a concrete agreement a late stage.
  • It picks the earliest stage that matches, and only moves further with clear evidence in your messages.
  • It never guesses from the name of a stage.
  • When no stage clearly fits, or the contact doesn't belong in a sales pipeline, no suggestion is shown.

What the analysis does not do

  • It doesn't move contacts between stages. Only your click on Move does.
  • It doesn't create reminders by itself. Only Get a reminder does.
  • It doesn't send messages or notifications. Reminders show up on your Reminders page and your dashboard (see Set a reminder on a conversation).
  • It isn't a lead score to rank your contacts. It's a reading of one relationship at one point in time. Check the date of your last exchange before acting on an old analysis.

The analysis also feeds the AI draft that proposes your replies (see Write faster with the AI draft).
