Find people who post about your topic

Thematic Posts and Lead Magnet Hunters search LinkedIn posts and give you their authors: people who write about a subject you care about.

What each search finds

  • Thematic Posts: the authors of posts about a topic. Useful to reach people who talk publicly about the problem you solve.
  • Lead Magnet Hunters: the authors of posts that offer a free resource (a guide, a template, a PDF) to people who like and comment. Swimlane adds the words "comment" and "like" to the search, so it finds posts whose text contains both.

Both return post authors. Neither imports the people who commented on those posts: to collect commenters, see Import the commenters of a LinkedIn post. Posts published by company pages are left out.

Steps

  1. Open Dashboard. In Find new leads, click Thematic Posts or Lead Magnet Hunters.
  2. Type your topic in What topic do you help with? (Thematic Posts) or What lead magnet topic are you looking for? (Lead Magnet Hunters). Example: "finding clients on LinkedIn".
  3. Set Maximum number of leads (15 by default, up to 100) and click Search.
  4. Review the authors found. Tick the people you want, then click Import selection (n), Matches >50% (n) or Import all (n).
  5. Swimlane creates a list named after your topic and opens it.

How the query is built

  • A single word is searched as it is.
  • A longer topic is turned by AI into a short boolean query in the same language: the core term and a group of synonyms. Thematic Posts may add one exclusion. Lead Magnet Hunters never adds one, and appends "comment" and "like".
  • Short, specific topics work best: LinkedIn returns nothing when a query gets too complex.

About the match percentage

The review screen shows a colour-coded percentage (green from 75%, amber from 50%, grey below) with a short reason on hover. It rates each author against what you wrote in Settings → Personalization. It is not the ICP level used on contacts and in campaigns, and it isn't saved on the contact.

Post results only carry the author's name and profile link. The list therefore shows names without headline, location or photo, and the percentage has very little to go on. Choose by topic rather than by percentage.

After importing

  • Select the new contacts in the list and use Enrich with LinkedIn. Swimlane fetches their headline, job title, company, About section and connection degree. Each contact uses one of your daily LinkedIn profile syncs (up to 80 a day).
  • Enrich before putting the list in a campaign: the Connection Request step skips contacts whose connection degree is unknown, and ICP matching needs a headline or job title to read.

Good to know

  • Posts that don't contain both "comment" and "like" are not found by Lead Magnet Hunters, whatever their language.
  • Authors already in your contacts are added to the new list, not duplicated. New contacts count towards Daily imports.
  • The search runs immediately, even outside your virtual office hours. Closing the window discards the results.

Troubleshooting

  • "No leads found. Try a broader topic." Use fewer words or a more common expression.
  • "Your LinkedIn session expired. Please reconnect your account." Reconnect LinkedIn (see Reconnect LinkedIn when the session expires) and click Try again.
  • "Daily import limit reached." Your import allowance for today is used up. Try again after the reset shown on Lists.
